The passion that drives ETC started well over 10 years ago with our founders, Dawn and Christopher Lissy
Life has a way of taking turns that are sometimes impossible to anticipate. Upon finishing her Master's Degree in Biomedical Engineering, Dawn Lissy landed her first post-education job at Acromed Corp. as a product development engineer. A promotion to Partner of the Trauma/Tumor team soon followed, and Ms. Lissy was responsible for new product design and developments as well as managing maintenance, manufacturing, testing, quality, and marketing for a variety of existing product lines. Her professional career grew through the necessity to understand vendor relationships and how to assess key partnerships needed to execute a successful product cycle. Suddenly, life took an unexpected turn: the orthopaedic market proceeded to shift, new alliances were formed, and opportunities were created.
At that point in time, Christopher Lissy recognized the need to provide a testing facility that partners with customers, understands product development timelines, understands regulatory requirements, and most importantly, understands the testing methodologies; on these fundamental principles, Empirical Testing Corp. (ETC) was established. ETC started with one test frame and grew to 13 frames in the Broadview Heights, OH facility. In 2004, ETC was moved to its current location in Colorado Springs, CO, and is growing to a fleet of over 30+ test frames.
With over 10 years of service to the medical device industry, Empirical Testing Corp. continues to break new ground in the realm of mechanical testing. With a complete internal team in place to address our customers' needs, ETC is constantly finding ways to improve quality and customer service and to expand our already wide array of services. Through market fluctuations, internal growth, and expansion into new frontiers, one thing remains constant - the original foundation and integrity of Empirical Testing Corp.
